Per MERCOLEDI 3 Settembre

Write a short bio (in inglese) telling your classmates WHY you are talking Italian (click "comment" below.)

After you finish your comment, read other students' comments and add a note to those you find most captivating.  You can leave as many "metacomments" as you want. The more the better.

  1. I am taking Italian this semester to better communicate with my Italian roommates and for fun. Another motivation for taking the course is to be better able to read, write, and speak the language if I ever get a chance to go to Italy, which I plan to do next summer.

  2. I am taking this language course because the last one I took was Spanish composition, it was to supposed to help me with my grammar skills in Spanish, instead my class ended up reading passages from a textbook that really didn't help and we had to write summaries about the passages. I needed help writing, since I know how to read and speak it more than writing my own sentences. I decided 'never again!' And I then decided to take a course that interest me, so I picked Italian.

  3. Hello Everyone! I am Italian, I grew up with my grandparents who's first language was Italian, I have even visited a few cities in Italy. I am ashamed to say that I never learned how to speak the language, and I think it's time that I give it a real shot. Before attending Brooklyn college I worked as a pastry chef for several years, it is my dream to return to Italy to study cooking, and be able to understand them!

  4. I decided to take Italian because I find the language to be very expressive and fun. I am also a vocalist and many popular classical songs are written in Italian so learning this language would be a great benefit also.

  10. Hello! My name is Lisa. I am taking Italian because if I every get a chance to visit Italy, I would be able to order food in restaurants and ask for directions. Also, learning a new language in a class setting would teach me how to learn other language on my own.

  11. Hello all! I am taking Italian because I've always wanted to learn this language since childhood. It wasn't offered in my school so I studied French instead. Then, unexpectedly, I learned Spanish. Now finally, the time has come to learn Italian! My goal is to be able to speak the language without fear to my boyfriend's family when I visit Italy. I've visited them twice and tried my best, but I definitely need improvement! I'm excited to learn about Italy's rich culture (especially art, cinema, and history).

I also plan to visit Italy in the newar future and I want to slightly understand what's happening around me. I've taken Spanish in the past and felt that Italian should be the next step.

  18. Hello everyone! My name is Alexandra Semenova. I am taking Italian because it is a beautiful and vivacious language, and I have long been interested in learning it. In high school we were placed into our required language courses at random so I studied Spanish and never had the opportunity to take an Italian course until now. In addition, I hope to travel to Italy in the future, so I would like to know some basic communication skills.
